64th Ann Arbor Film Festival – Call for Entries

Filmmakers working in experimental film and media arts worldwide. Submissions are accepted in three primary categories: Shorts, Features, and Off the Screen (live cinema performances and installations).

Application Fee
Shorts (under 60 minutes):
– Early Deadline (by July 31 or first 800 entries): $40
– Regular Deadline (by August 31): $55
– Late Deadline (by September 30): $70

Features (60+ minutes):
– Early: $60
– Regular: $75
– Late: $90

Off the Screen (OTS) Shorts and Features (live performances or installations):
– OTS Short (under 60 min): $40–$70
– OTS Feature (60+ min): $60–$90

No fee waivers or discounts are available.

What’s Provided
Selected works will be screened at the 64th Ann Arbor Film Festival. Approximately $39,000 in cash and in-kind awards are given annually. Select awards qualify filmmakers for an Oscar® nomination in the short film category.

What the artist/applicant must cover
Entry fees and all related submission costs. Films must be in English or have English subtitles. All works must be submitted via secure online screening or 16mm (by arrangement only). No DVDs, VHS, or data files accepted.

Shorts: Under 60 minutes
Features: 60 minutes or more
Off the Screen: Varies; includes time-based performances and installations

– Early: July 31, 2025 (or first 800 submissions)
– Regular: August 31, 2025
– Late: September 30, 2025

Any other essential notes
Work must be completed within the last three years. Re-submissions are only accepted if significantly re-edited. Works in progress are allowed but will be judged alongside completed films. Off the Screen submissions must fall within appropriate category durations.
