Anima – The Brussels Animation Film Festival

Open to
Animated films from around the world, completed no more than 18 months prior to the festival. Includes international professional shorts, student films, feature films, children’s animation, national (Belgian) shorts, animated documentaries, music videos, and more. Films must align with the International Animated Film Association’s definition of animation.

What’s Provided

  • Official selection in national and international competitions

  • Screening of selected films (up to 6 public showings for shorts)

  • Films considered for Oscar® and BAFTA® qualification

  • Participation in audience and jury awards

  • Conference series and professional activities (Futuranima)

  • Technical support (DCP creation for shorts)

  • Films may be included in special or out-of-competition programs

What the artist/applicant must cover

  • Subtitles and dialogue files (French, Dutch, and/or English)

  • Transportation costs only if using a non-digital format not sent via the official carrier

  • No mention of travel or accommodation support

Festival screening period; online access limited to 1 month during the festival (for accredited participants only)

Other Notes

  • A maximum of 20 entries per school applies for student films (students may also submit individually)

  • No burned-in subtitles; must provide separate files

  • Excerpts may be used for promotion unless specified otherwise
