Biennale of Contemporary Keramics – Rhodes 2026

Artists who are:

  • Born in, based in, or have a meaningful connection to a Mediterranean country (through heritage, residence, study, or partnership)

  • Working primarily in clay, with contemporary ceramic practices

Application Fee
None

What’s Provided

  • Two nights of accommodation during the opening for selected participants

  • Letters of recommendation for grant/sponsorship applications

  • Installation handled by Biennale team

What the Artist Must Cover

  • Production costs

  • Transportation of the work

  • Travel to/from Rhodes

Prizes

  • Grand Prize: €5,000

  • Special Mention: €1,000
    (All prizes subject to Greek tax withholding)

Work Requirements

  • One original work or series (as a single artistic creation)

  • Clay must be the primary material (other media allowed)

  • Durable and suitable for indoor/outdoor display

  • Conceptually aligned with the theme “Where the Day Starts”

  • Artist must retain ownership through exhibition period

  • Work must be recent and safe (no living or prohibited materials)

Submission Requirements

  • 4 high-resolution images of the work (all sides)

  • Artwork statement (150–200 words)

  • Full artist bio and short bio (150–200 words)

  • Artist portfolio

  • Contact info: name, phone, email, website/social media

  • Title of the work

Exhibition: June–October 2026
Opening: June 7, 2026
Preview & Award Ceremony: June 6, 2026

Selection Process
An international jury of curators, artists, and ceramic specialists, including the Biennale’s curators and invited experts, will select 20 artists. Finalists will be announced on March 1, 2026.

Theme
“Where the Day Starts”
A call to reimagine the Mediterranean’s shared heritage and evolving identities through ceramics, inspired by the mythology, light, and symbolism of Rhodes.

Additional Notes

  • Work cannot be altered after submission

  • Notify BCK if damage occurs post-submission

  • Submissions are via online form only

  • English is the working language

  • One work or series per artist
