Scholars, critics, curators, museum professionals, artists, and independent researchers from all over the world. Applicants should hold a PhD or demonstrate equivalent high-level professional experience and must present a well-developed research proposal in visual arts, art history, visual culture, theory, or interpretation.

What’s Provided

Duration
Flexible residency from 1 to 10 months (semester-length most common). Short-term options include summer (5-week) or 2‑month fall/spring terms. Full-year appointments may be available.

Additional Notes

  • Letters of recommendation are no longer required

  • Application components include an online form, a 500‑character abstract, a project description (max 750 words), schedule outline (250 words), and CV (up to 3 pages) — all in English only

  • Applicants may indicate interest in special fellowships (e.g. Caribbean Art & Its Diasporas, Futures, Clark/Oakley Humanities, etc.), though designation is at committee discretion

  • Decisions are typically communicated by end of March following submission cycle
