Creative Residency at Bloedel Reserve – Class of 2026

Professional and emerging creatives aged 21 and over, including artists, writers, composers, researchers, botanists, landscape architects, and others exploring themes related to nature and human connection with the environment.

$20 USD
What’s Provided
Three-week, solo residency on a 140-acre public garden and forest preserve
Furnished private cottage with kitchen, bath, linens, Wi-Fi, laundry
Kitchen stocked with essentials (spices, tea, cookware)
Electric piano and smart car available for use
$1,000 stipend for U.S.-based residents; international residents may submit up to $1,000 in expenses for reimbursement
Opportunities for community engagement events (e.g., performance, talk, workshop, demonstration)
What the Applicant Must Cover
Travel to and from Bainbridge Island
All meals during the stay
Art supplies or project materials
Any additional personal expenses
Duration
Three weeks, to be scheduled between selected available dates in 2025. Applicants indicate availability; exact dates are not guaranteed.

One resident at a time; no overlapping residencies
No dedicated studio on site—residents work within the cottage space
Application requires: written responses, two references (contacted only for finalists), CV/resume, and work samples (formats depend on discipline)
Applicants may choose to waive part or all of their stipend to support others in the program (optional and not factored into selection)
