CUSP Artist Residency 2027 – National Gallery of Iceland

Open to
International artists based outside Iceland who are residents of eligible Creative Europe countries (EU member states and certain associated non-EU countries). Applicants should work with complex media or emerging technologies, including generative AI, custom sensors, sound, software-based works, blockchain, and physical/digital hybrid practices.

What’s Provided

• Residency of up to four weeks in early 2027.

• Accommodation and working space throughout the residency.

• Travel and subsistence stipend.

• Artist fee for participation in the Open Lab/masterclass.

• Hardware and software for the working space, where possible and depending on the artist’s needs and the museum’s resources.

• Collaboration with a preservation specialist or conservator specializing in time-based media art.

Other Essential Notes

• The selected artist will be paired with a conservation specialist or team working in time-based media preservation.

• The residency includes an artist interview focused on preservation methodologies and a public presentation/Open Lab masterclass developed with the museum.

• This is the first of four full residencies within the CUSP project, followed by two micro-residencies in the Netherlands and Iceland.
