Forging Journal Contributor Cohort – Forge Project

Open to
Writers at all career levels who are committed to rethinking how Indigenous survivance is studied and interpreted, particularly those centering Native perspectives. Submissions are also accepted from non-Native writers with a strong record of relevant research and writing.

What’s Provided

  • $1/word for each accepted article (max 1,200 words each)

  • Up to $4,600 in compensation per cohort term (Oct 2025–May 2026)

  • Optional one-week self-directed residency at Forge Project

  • $1,000 stipend for retreat-related travel, food, and expenses

  • Access to Forge Project's 1,000+ volume library

  • Editorial support and connections with local experts during retreat

What the artist/applicant must cover

  • Personal travel and retreat costs not covered by the $1,000 stipend

  • Any other additional personal expenses

Duration
Cohort runs from October 2025 to May 2026
Articles range from 800 to 1,200 words; each contributor will submit 2–3 thematically connected articles
