Helsinki Analog Festival (HAF 2026) — Analog Film & Art Open Call

Artists and filmmakers worldwide working in analog, handmade, or experimental processes — including analog photography, analog film (16mm, 35mm, experimental formats), book arts, and other non-digital media.

What’s Provided
Exhibition for selected artists (10 artists) at Photographic Gallery Hippolyte during April 2026.
Film screenings for selected analog films at Kino Regina (Oodi Central Library) on 18–19 April 2026.
For exhibition artists: a €500 expense allowance (to support transport or materials) provided by the festival organizers.
What the Artist / Applicant Must Cover
Production, transport, and insurance of the physical work for exhibition (if selected). Works must be delivered to reach the organizers by 1 March 2026.
For films: if selected, artists must provide film copies in DCP, 16 mm or 35 mm for final screening (after selection) and handle shipping/return of physical film. Screening copy for selection may be digital, but the film must have been originally produced using analog methods.

14 December 2025 for the Analog Practice Exhibition open call.
Other Essential Notes
Selected artworks must primarily rely on analog or handmade processes (digital steps allowed only if secondary; final work must emphasise materiality and craft)
For films: any genre is accepted (fiction, animation, documentary, experimental), up to max 40 minutes runtime. Films must be produced after 1 January 2015.
If the work includes language other than Finnish or English, English subtitles are required.
For film submissions: selected filmmakers may receive reimbursement for transport costs (up to 150 €) within EU/SEPA.
