In Listening 2027 – Call for Hybrid Radio/Live Works

Artists working in experimental sound practices and audio art. Proposals should respond to the CTM 2027 theme Process…ing and be designed for both a live presentation at CTM Festival and a radio broadcast. Applications must be submitted in English.

No application fee stated.

What's Provided

  • Two commissioned projects, each supported with a €6,000 fee.

  • Premiere presentation at CTM Festival 2027 in Berlin.

  • Radio broadcast on Deutschlandfunk Kultur and presentation via ORF platforms.

  • Technical and staging costs for CTM (and possible ORF festival presentation) covered upon discussion.

  • Travel to Berlin and accommodation during the production/festival period.

  • Production support, counselling, and general assistance from CTM Festival and Deutschlandfunk Kultur.

  • Online streaming of the completed work via broadcaster platforms for at least one year.

What the Artist/Applicant Must Cover

  • Research and creation costs, including collaborator fees, materials, and other project expenses, using the commission budget.

  • Submit a project description (including a rough budget), technical requirements, and CV(s) in PDF format as part of the application.

Duration

  • Production: Late October 2026 – January 2027 (remote).

  • Festival presentation: 22–31 January 2027.

  • Radio broadcast: Spring 2027.

  • Additional ORF presentation: Autumn 2027.

Deadline
6 September 2026 (23:59 Berlin time, UTC+2).

Other Essential Notes

  • Two works will be selected.

  • Works should be conceived for both a live listening experience and a radio format.

  • Video-based or technically complex scenography is outside the scope of the call.

  • Successful applicants will be notified in mid-October 2026.
