KHN Center for the Arts Residency

Open to
Visual artists, writers, composers/musicians, and interdisciplinary artists of any career stage. International applicants are eligible to apply.

Application Fee
A non-refundable $35 application fee, paid via credit card through the online portal.

What’s Provided
Residency awards range from 2 to 8 weeks in length. Each awardee receives free housing (private bedroom, bathroom, and studio space), a weekly stipend of $175, and access to shared facilities and community.

What the Artist Must Cover
Travel to and from Nebraska City (except cab fare from Omaha or Lincoln on arrival/departure paid by the Center), meals, and other personal expenses are the responsibility of the resident.

Duration
Residency sessions vary; applicants indicate preferred dates within session windows. Residencies begin on Monday and conclude on Friday during the selected session period.

Deadline
Applications are accepted twice yearly:
• March 1 for residencies July – December of the same year
• September 1 for residencies January – June of the following year

Other Essential Notes
• Applications are juried through a blind review process where only anonymized work samples and statements are evaluated.
• Applicants must provide professional references.
