Emerging artists or researchers in the field of visual arts with a clear reason to stay in Kyoto for production or research. Applicants must be able to engage in public exchange projects and communicate in either English or Japanese.

What’s Provided

• Up to 3 months of accommodation

• Studio space at Kyoto Art Center

• Round-trip economy airfare to Kansai or Osaka International Airport

• ¥200,000 production subsidy (per individual or group)

• Public relations support

• Assistance from art coordinators

What the artist/applicant must cover

• Food, artist fees, and living expenses

• All necessary supplies and materials

• Travel insurance is strongly recommended

Duration
Residency period: up to 3 months between April 1, 2026, and March 31, 2027

Deadline
August 31, 2025, 23:59 JST (applications must be fully submitted by this time)

Additional Notes

• Applications must be submitted in English or Japanese using the official application sheet and Google form

• Portfolio must be attached (as a file, not embedded media)

• Incomplete applications will not be reviewed

• Only the artist is eligible for support; family or assistants require prior consultation

• Selected applicants will be notified by email in late November 2025
