New American Paintings – MFA Annual Competition 2025

Current MFA candidates and graduates from 2020–2025 who attended schools based in the United States. Artists of all painting styles and media are welcome, provided the work is singular and not editioned.

Application Fee
$50 regular entry fee. If the deadline is extended, a $10 late fee applies.

What’s Provided
Forty winners will each receive a four-page, full-color spread in New American Paintings. The publication reaches more than ten thousand art collectors, professionals, and enthusiasts, offering significant national exposure.

What the Artist Must Cover
Application fee and any costs related to preparing and submitting images. No additional publication or participation fees apply if selected.

Notes
Competitions are open to artists working within the United States. “Painting” is defined broadly, including drawing, monotypes, and mixed-media works involving the activity of painting. Editioned prints, digital paintings, photographs, photograms, and sculpture are not eligible.
