Theme
Gallery 263 invites artists from across the United States to submit artwork that embraces humor, irony, satire, and play. Failed Seriousness explores how artists use comedic strategies to critique culture, challenge norms, and make us see serious topics through a subversive lens. From cheeky quips to juicy irony—funny is serious business.
Juror
Libby Paloma (she/they) – Interdisciplinary artist known for maximalist soft sculpture, humor, and installations focused on intersectional identity and "world-softening."
Eligibility
Open to all US residents
All media welcome
Work must be created within the last 5 years
Work must be complete and presentation-ready
Size and shipping restrictions apply (see below)
Submission Fees
$25 for 1–3 artworks
$40 for 4–6 artworks
(Fees support gallery operations and cannot be waived.)

Submit via online form on Gallery 263’s website
Up to 6 works total
.JPG format only (72 dpi, 1200 pixels max on longest side)
Time-based works via streaming links (YouTube/Vimeo)
Artist statement required
CV and website optional

Must fit in a box no larger than 36" x 36" x 8", 40 lbs max
UPS only, with prepaid return label
Return shipping is artist’s responsibility

Max: 108" H x 60" W, 40 lbs

Max: 108" H x 30" W x 30" D
Must be self-supporting or mountable
🎥 Time-Based Media:
No time limits, but artist must supply equipment
