Phileas – Call for Grant Applications for International Projects with Austrian Contemporary Art in 2027

Open to
Non-profit art organisations outside Austria, including museums, biennials and art institutions. Applications must present the work of an Austrian or Austria-based artist and the project must open in 2027. Artists and commercial organisations cannot apply directly.

What’s Provided
Grant support for eligible international projects presenting Austrian or Austria-based artists. Exhibitions and participations at international museums, biennials and art institutions are eligible. Priority is given to solo exhibitions and projects contributing to the production of new artworks.

What the Applicant Must Cover
Applicants must provide a project description, information about the artist(s) and institution, relevant image material, curator or manager contact details, artist portfolios, and a detailed budget including funding secured from other sources. Applications must be submitted in English.

Deadline
15 September 2026. Applications must be submitted in full by this date.

Other Essential Notes
Applications are evaluated based on the artistic and curatorial strengths of the project, international significance, the applicant institution’s profile and visibility, potential for producing new artworks, potential impact on the artist’s career, budget feasibility, additional funding sources, and ecological sustainability. Selected projects will be publicly announced in January 2027.
