Struts Open Studio Residency 2027

Location: Sackville, New Brunswick, Canada

Open to

Professional visual and media artists at all career stages, including artist duos and collectives. Applicants currently enrolled as students are not eligible.

What’s Provided

• 5-week artist residency

• Artist fee of CAD 3,250

• Per diem of CAD 30/day (CAD 750 total)

• Travel support up to CAD 800

• CAD 200 materials budget for a public event

• Private furnished two-bedroom apartment

• 24-hour studio access

• Access to Struts’ media arts equipment, facilities, and technical support

What the Artist/Applicant Must Cover

Applicants are expected to creatively engage with the community through at least one public event (such as an artist talk, workshop, or other artist-initiated activity). No additional required expenses are specified.

Duration

5 weeks. Two residency periods are offered in 2027:

• 11 August – 22 September 2027

• 29 September – 3 November 2027

Essential Notes

The residency is artist-driven and supports experimentation, new projects, and site-specific work without requiring a completed exhibition. Applications are reviewed through a peer selection process, followed by interviews with shortlisted candidates.
