Writers, artists, and translators of unpublished fiction, poetry, nonfiction, graphic literature, and translated works. Submissions open from June 9 – August 15, 2025, via Submittable.

Genres Accepted (General Submissions)

  • Fiction

  • Poetry

  • Nonfiction / Essays

  • Graphic Literature / Comics

  • Translation (Poetry & Prose)

Submission Guidelines

  • Fiction & Nonfiction: Max 8,000 words

  • Poetry: Up to 5 poems in a single document

  • Comics: One piece per submission

  • Translations: Must include original language text and confirm rights for translation

  • Only one submission per genre per reading period

  • Simultaneous submissions accepted (notify if accepted elsewhere)

  • Include a brief cover letter with titles, contact info, short bio, and contributor status

Application Fee
$4 per submission
Waivers available for BIPOC and those with financial need. Email editor@arkint.org to request.

What’s Provided

  • Payment:

    • $25 per 500-word page (fiction, nonfiction, translations)

    • $25 per page (poetry and comics)

    • Maximum payment: $200

  • One-year digital subscription for all contributors

  • Print contributors receive 2 complimentary copies

Format

  • Spring issue (Issue #19, 2026): Online only

  • Fall issue: Print + Online, with themed content

Response Time
3–6 months (or longer, depending on volume)

Additional Notes

  • No AI-generated content allowed

  • Works must be previously unpublished

  • Late submissions will not be accepted

  • Contact via Submittable for updates or partial withdrawals (especially for poetry)
