The Kingston Prize 2026

Canada (Finalist exhibition in the Greater Toronto Area, Ontario)

Open to
Canadian artists aged 18 years and over on the date of the entry deadline. Eligible entries are portraits of Canadians by Canadian artists, either paintings or drawings.

Application Fee
CAD $40 non-refundable entry fee (payment via PayPal or e-transfer)

What’s Provided

  • The Kingston Prize: CAD $25,000

  • Two Honourable Mention awards: CAD $3,000 each

  • People’s Choice award: CAD $1,000

  • Exhibition of thirty finalists at a venue in the Greater Toronto Area in November 2026

What the Artist Must Cover

  • Entry fee

  • Preparation and submission of required materials:

    • High-resolution digital image of the portrait (.jpg format, 1 MB–4 MB)

    • One-page PDF document containing artist’s statement, biography, and curriculum vitae

  • Online submission of entry materials

Not specified. Finalist works will be exhibited in November 2026.

Entries accepted from April 15, 2026 to September 1, 2026.
Final deadline: September 1, 2026.

Essential Notes

  • Submission is online only; paper entries are not accepted.

  • One image file and one-page artist statement/biography/CV document are required.

  • The artist’s name, address, contact information, and artwork information should not appear on the submitted statement/biography/CV page.

  • Entries are not considered complete until payment has been received.

  • Incomplete submissions or incorrectly formatted files may result in disqualification.
