Vimeo Short Film Grant

Open to
Emerging filmmakers who:

  • Are legal residents of the United States or Canada

  • Are 18 years or older

  • Have directed at least two original short films

  • Have not directed a feature film

  • Are submitting one original narrative or documentary short film project that is not already in production or post-production

Application Fee
Free (No purchase necessary). Applicants must have a free or paid Vimeo account.

What’s Provided

  • One of five $60,000 USD cash grants for short film production

  • Panavision camera package (loan)

  • OWC storage equipment

  • One-on-one mentorship with jury members and Vimeo’s Curation Team

  • Festival strategy, financing, editing, script, and distribution guidance

  • Distribution and promotion on Vimeo

  • Vimeo-hosted in-person screening

  • One-year Vimeo Advanced subscription

What the Artist/Applicant Must Cover

  • Production insurance covering liability and equipment (required for selected grantees)

  • Completion of the proposed project using the awarded funds in accordance with the grant agreement

  • Any production expenses beyond the grant support

Duration

  • Applications open: September 21, 2026

  • Winners announced: March 15, 2027

  • Production begins: March 2027

  • Production must be completed by September 2027

  • Post-production deadline: March 2028

Essential Notes

  • Only one project may be submitted per applicant.

  • Work samples must be submitted as Vimeo links and each must be under 40 minutes.

  • Winning films will premiere on Vimeo following their festival run, including a six-month exclusive hosting period on Vimeo.
